Anxiety

Anxiety

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you (Matthew 6.33).

Why do we have such a hard time simply resting in the Lord and leaving earthly matters in the background? Why do we find it so hard to relax and allow anxiety to take over our lives and our hearts? We have big problems in the areas, marital, family, career, work, in short, anxiety takes over all areas of our lives. And many times it ends up making us sick.

In the vast majority of the times, our conflicts are born from the desire to control. This desire for control is what makes us anxious. Crises in marriage arise because spouses fight for power. They fight for control. If they would relinquish control, the fighting would cease.

Crises arise in all areas of our lives because we insist on trying to control situations, circumstances and people, and we refuse to accept that we can only control ourselves.

Here in the verse quoted above, the Lord Jesus was talking about this. Letting God be in control and seeking Him instead of looking horizontally, seeking to control, spending energy on what we cannot change, He directs us to focus on High, on the Kingdom, on spiritual matters. To raise our eyes to Heaven and seek to focus vertically. To the top. It is from there, from above that our help comes, it is from there that we receive wisdom to live, and it is also from there that we receive the blessings, the discernment and the direction to walk on this earth.

When we decide to leave in God’s hands everything that only He can control and focus our gaze towards Him, anxiety will go away. Anxiety cannot resist faith. Anxiety cannot resist a heart that seeks the Kingdom and its righteousness above anything else.

Seek the Lord with all your heart. Draw near to Him and give Him everything that only He can change.

God bless you in Jesus’ Name.
